With new findings of fruit fly in the Devonport area, organisations like SecondBite have been severely limited in the fresh produce they have been able to collect from their generous donors, and in turn, what they are able to distribute to the agencies who help those in need.
So, it is with pleasure we’d like to acknowledge Brett Neal, a third-generation farmer from Yolla and candidate for the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party of Tasmania, for his donation of 24,000kg of potatoes to Loaves & Fishes Tasmania/SecondBite.
This huge contribution, one of the largest ever received in one donation in Tasmania, will permit more food to be distributed throughout Tasmania to help bridge the shortfall in fruit that the current quarantine has imposed on food relief efforts.
In thanking Brett, we’re recognising the contribution of all farmers who take the time to think of others even when their own industry is in jeopardy.
Thank you Brett, and well done!
