Local Food. Local People. Shared Strength.
Right now, too many Tasmanians are going hungry and we believe that needs to change.
At Loaves and Fishes, we’re building a stronger, fairer food system: rescuing local food, creating jobs, and making sure good meals reach the people who need them.
This is about more than food. It’s about dignity, connection, and real opportunity.
Our Core Pillars
Food
Nutritious, local, and shared with dignity. We recover and prepare thousands of fresh meals each week – supporting families, schools, and communities across Tasmania.
Community
We work alongside over 250 local partners – churches, schools, and neighbourhood groups – to build trust, strengthen connection, and deliver care where it’s needed most.
Jobs
We create real training and employment pathways – empowering Tasmanians with purpose, skills, and opportunities for a better future.

A Plan for a Food-Resilient Tasmania
We’re working toward a future where every Tasmanian can access fresh, nutritious food—every day, in their own community.
It’s not just about feeding people in crisis. It’s about changing how food works in Tasmania: reducing waste, supporting local growers, creating local jobs, and making good food part of a stronger, fairer system that serves everyone.

Where We Are Now:
The Reality Behind the Numbers
The need is real—and it’s growing.
Over 100,000 Tasmanians struggle to put food on the table. Housing stress, rising living costs, and mental health challenges are pushing more families to the edge. At the same time, good food is being lost because it’s too hard to move, store, or share.
This is the gap we’re helping close.

Our Mission: Relief, Dignity, and Lasting Change
We exist to bring together food, people, and purpose—so that no one in our state goes hungry, and everyone has the chance to move forward.
We do this by providing nutritious meals, creating pathways into training and employment, and working with local communities to build dignity and resilience through food..

Where We Are Now:
The Reality Behind the Numbers
From school lunches for Tassie kids to meals in a crisis, from job placements to rescued produce—we’re making good food go further.
We work alongside farmers, food businesses, volunteers, and trainees across Tasmania to prepare and deliver thousands of meals every week.
Many of the jobs we provide go to Tasmanians doing it tough—people who’ve faced barriers to employment and may not have been given a chance elsewhere. Through supported training and mentoring, we’re helping them build real skills, confidence, and a future in the food and hospitality industry.
Social Enterprise: Food That Gives Back
Through our Social Wholesaler, we produce and distribute food that serves a greater purpose by helping community organisations, social supermarkets, and Tasmanians access quality local food at a fair cost.
With every purchase of Hoozles Honey and Forth Valley Olive Oil, and Campers Pantry meals you’re backing more than just great Tasmanian produce, you’re helping ensure our good work continues.
This is food with impact. Crafted with care, sold for good.
All profits go toward our mission: ensuring every Tasmanian can access fresh, nutritious meals every day, in their own community.
