Hundreds of students at 20 schools statewide got their share of Vitamin C through a generous donation from Tasmania’s Juicy Isle in 2023.
Juicy Isle donates the equivalent of $20,000 in juice for use in school breakfast clubs, enough to provide drinks for the year.
Loaves and Fishes general manager Aaron Kropf said the breakfast clubs provided a social hub for students as well as providing a nutritious start for students who didn’t have time or couldn’t afford to have breakfast at home.
“The Juicy Isle partnership, along with other cash and in-kind donors, enables us to provide breakfast at 27 schools, many in partnership with school chaplains employed through our sister organisation, Devonport Chaplaincy,” Aaron said.
“Typically, a breakfast program would provide toast and spreads, toasted sandwiches, muffins, juice, fruit, water and Milo.
“We’re thankful for the support of Juicy Isle which uses Tasmanian fruit in its juices.”
Loaves and Fishes also provides 7500 lunches each week to 30 schools involved in the School Lunch Pilot Program, an initiative of School Food Matters.
