A huge thank you to everyone who has signed up for our Solstice Splashes.

We are incredibly appreciative of your willingness to endure a little discomfort to raise money to help our neighbours doing it tough.

I’m sure we’re all hoping for blue skies and warmish water for our epic dip.

Please aim to be at the beach by 7:45am.

There will be a registration desk where we will check off your name and give you a peg with which to claim your egg and bacon roll. This could be the single most important information you will get!

There are change rooms and toilets at both beaches and plenty of parking.

We will gather on the sand at 7:55am for a short briefing and then we take to the water at 8am.

We’re asking all our splashers to completely submerge and stay in the water for three minutes.

It’s up to you if you want to edge in slowly or run in and take a freezing dive.

Not a nudie swim

Wersuits are frowned upon but not banned. Please wear swimming attire of some description. This is not a nudie swim.

You are very welcome to dress up as a superhero, a chicken or the neck-to-knee costume you made especially for the splash.

Yes, it’s very cold when your chest and head hit the water, but it only hurts for less than a minute as your body adjusts. It should be easy for anyone who has given birth, broken a bone or passed a kidney stone!

As with any swim in the surf, raise your hand if you get into trouble.

Your fundraising

Please make a big push between now and the swims to promote the event and link to your profile so your contacts can make a donation or pledge. View all our fundraisers.

Tell them what you’re doing and, more importantly, why.

We are seeking to raise $50,000 to fund 100,000 ready-to-eat winter meals.

It’s difficult to get new sponsors after the event.

Still time to sign up

New splashers are welcome to register right up until the swims, so please encourage others to join in the fun and sign up. Register here

Take pictures

You have until June 30 to gather your outstanding donations. Take plenty of pictures and send them to your supporters so they know you did the swim and survived.

There will be many photos on our Facebook page for you to grab.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday at Greens Beach or Kingston Beach on Saturday, June 25, and thanking you in person. You’re all champions in my book!
